What's buzz-worthy: Donruss takes to the track once again with a dose of Optic, plenty of star power from the past and present as well as plenty more inside its packs.

The Basics: Each hobby box will include 24 Optic insert cards -- double last year's total -- as well as 24 parallel cards and 24 insert cards atop the base cards and hits. ... There will be new parallels in the mix, including Red, Blue, Black Numbers, Green, Purple, Pink and Black Trophy Club for all 200 cards in the base set. It will include drivers, cars, Rated Rookies, Retro 1987, Race Kings and Retro 1987 Throwback Cars. The full parallel lineup will include nine parallels -- Silver parallels and printing plates are the others.... Meanwhile, new inserts and memorabilia will include Timeless Treasures Signatures and TT Materials Signatures, Downtown, Retro Series, Elite Series, Dominators, Action Packed, Aero Package and Retro 1987 Relics. ... Signature Series cards will be found for past and present drivers with three parallels this time -- Red, Gold and Black. Those same colors will apply for Timeless Treasures foil stamping as well as for the Race Day Relics cards that will have several possible swatches. Tires, sheet metal and firesuits will all be in play for that one. ... Dominators inserts will be hobby-only finds with three parallels -- Holographic, Cracked Ice and Xplosion. Also in play will be Downtown -- its NASCAR debut -- while Optic inserts will include base Optic, Optic Race Kings, Optic Rated Rookies, Optic Illusion and Optic Retro cards. There also will be Holo, Gold, Gold Vinyl and autograph parallels. ... Packs will once again carry a suggested retail price of $2.99.
