What's buzz-worthy: Elite hits the field once again with the familiar format and feel, a Pen Pals autograph in every box and plenty more to look for, too.

The Basics: Boxes once again will include at least three Rookie Cards, six parallels and eight other insert cards with the hits, which will include a Pen Pals card as one of the autos. ... Rookies will appear on 100 cards with each newcomer in their NFL uniforms (last year's players shown on mocks here) on pieces limited to no more than 799 copies with a full rainbow of parallels you can see noted in the gallery below. The base set also will have its own parallel lineup for all 100 cards with a new parallel in the mix called Razzle Dazzle. For autographs, there will be Back To The Future autos (/199), Turn of the Century cards showing rookies in their NFL threads and Pen Pals with black-, blue-, green- red- and purple-ink versions. There also will be dual-auto cards. ... A group of 50 rookies also will be found in the 2000 Elite throwback set and there will be 50 veterans getting that re-do, too, while other inserts will include Full Throttle. The Elites also will have Aspirations and Status parallels limited to no more than 99 copies. ... For memorabilia, there will be Swagger multi-piece jersey cards with prime versions as well as Spark Plugs. ... Boxes will carry a suggested retail price of $125 ($6.25 per pack).
