What's buzz-worthy: Playoff arrives with some Optichrome cards and Contenders previews in there, too, to make sure that this release has some extra hobby heat this year.

The Basics: Boxes will contain 12 Rookie Cards, 12 Optichrome cards and four parallels atop the hits. There will be Contenders Rookie Ticket Previews in Green and Red (/23) with players in their NFL uniforms. Joining them will be Behind the Numbers, Thunder & Lightning, Call to Arms and Rookie Wave -- all on Optichrome stock. ... The base set will have its standard parallel structure here -- see the gallery for the details -- with 200 base cards and 100 rookies as well as some short-printed versions. There also will be autographed variations for top rookies. ... Also among the hits will be Game Day Signatures, Touchdown Tandems dual autos, Hall of Fame autos (/50 max), Sunday's Best and Changing Stripes dual-swatch cards for the same player on different teams. Call to Arms inserts also will have autographed versions. On the retail front, these will have blasters (one auto or mem per), jumbo packs (one auto per 12-box case) hanger boxes (two autos per 36-box case) and 10-pack "boxbuy" boxes that have one auto and one memorabilia card every time.
