First Buzz: 2021-22 Donruss basketball cards

What's buzz-worthy: Donruss hits the court with the same 30-card pack format as last year but with the new rookies and plenty more to shake things up in the second NBA release of the season for Panini.

The Basics: Boxes will include a total of 60 inserts and parallel cards just like last year atop the base and hits. The base set size was not announced and the parallel lineup was not detailed in advance, either, but there will be Black and Gold Laser parallels for the Rated Rookie autos. Joining them in the auto lineup will be Next Day autos, which will have on-card sigs. ... Jersey Kings appear to run the floor for mem cards with standard and prime versions. ... Among inserts will be Production Line, Net Marvels, Craftsmen with parallels coming there, too -- at least Gold and Purple in the mix. Other inserts will include Duos, Retro Series and Crunch Time. No other information was provided for this release.

Update (Dec. 16): There will be 10-card Choice boxes for this one (20 boxes per case) with each having two autographs, three parallels only found there and then five Rated Rookies also with a design exclusive to this format. Choice parallels will include Red (/99), Blue (/49), Gold (/10), Black Gold (/8) and 1/1 Black. There also appear to the Dragon parallels in the mix. Next-Day autos and Rated Rookies Signatures will be found with Choice textures here. These are scheduled to arrive on Jan. 21 with a suggested retail price of $165.
