What's buzz-worthy: This one "combines fan-favorite players along with one of the deepest rookie classes ever to get the 2021 season off to a strong start," according to Panini.

The Basics: Base set details were not disclosed for this one (nor were their parallels), but the formula of past years appears to be in play here with Rated Rookies (32 of those), Retro cards (1987 this time) and more that collectors have liked in this one arriving once again. Atop the hits, there will be one Holo Blue parallel in every hobby pack (24 per box) as well as four Independence Day parallels and one Liberty parallel per box. ... Among the hits will be Retro 1987 autos, Short & Sweet, Classics, Classified and Signature Series. Meanwhile, the Retro 1987 Materials set will include nearly 100 players with Babe Ruth among them on a checklist of past, present and future stars. Among the inserts will be case-hit Whammy! cartoon cards as well as Unleashed cards for "players on top of baseball's food chain," 10 Rated Prospects and The Rookies. Also in the mix will be more San Diego Chicken cards as well as Dominator and Elite Series, inserts along with new Unleashed and Trending sets. ... Boxes carry a suggested retail price of $80.
