What's buzz-worthy: Obsidian drops for another NFL season with the familiar color scheme and look but with new players, some new touches and more in store when it arrives early next year.

The Basics: There once again will be one base card and two inserts or parallels per box along with the hits. The base set will consist of 100 cards with plenty of parallels (see gallery) with past and present stars included. Atop that, there will be 100 Rookie Cards that will also have autographed parallel versions in the mix just like this year's edition. ... Among the hits will be rookie jersey autos, rookie jersey ink cards (multiple swatches), Matrix Material autos, Lightning Strike autos, Aurora autos, Trifecta Materials and more. ... Among the inserts will be Color Blast as well as die-cut Tunnel Vision, Vitreous, Eclipse and Supernova inserts. Also in play will be short-printed Contra cards. ... Boxes carry an increased suggested retail price of $200.
