What's buzz-worthy: Topps Archives returns with a mix of past designs for cards of today's stars and notables of yesteryear all in one place.

The Basics: The 300-card base set will showcase many past years with seven this time for the 70th anniversary -- 1957, 1962, 1973, 1983, 1991, 2001 and 2011. There also will be a "preview" of the 2091 set for 70 years from now. ... Parallels of these will include Rainbow (/150), Green (/125), Silver (/99), Red (/75), Red Hot Foil (/50), Blue Foil (/25) Orange Hot Foil (/15) and 1/1 Foilfactors. Also included will be base set variations for some players. ... Among the inserts will be Movie Posters (four per box), 1963 Peel-offs variations (four per box), 1991 Bazooka Shining Stars (four per box) and 1994 Draft Picks (one per box). Joining them will be 1989 Topps Big Minis and 2001 Topps Never Forgotten inserts (three per box) where past FDNY and NYPD player nods will be seen on cardboard. ... Among the autographs will be Fan Favorites with Purple (/150), Silver (/99), Blue (/25; hobby-only) and 1/1 Gold versions. There also will be Fan Favorites Premium autos (/50 max) with only 1/1 Gold parallels in the mix along with 2001 Topps Never Forgotten autos with the four colors of parallels. Joining them in the auto lineup will be 1991 Bazooka Shining Stars, 1994 Draft Picks, 1963 Peel-offs, 1989 Big Minis (/20) and buybacks (/10). The first three will have varying parallel rainbows and the standard autos will vary by set/player. ... One per box will be Movie Poster Mini-posters -- larger parallels of the standard inserts.

Still no 1956 or 1978 for Archives....very disappointing that in a year in which they are using seven designs, they are reusing three designs that have already appeared in Archives, while still not using two popular designs.
