What's buzz-worthy: Topps' second trip back to 1972 comes with some new stars, past greats and nods to a championship dynasty that began all those summers ago.

The Basics: The basic set will once again consist of 200 cards with 25 short-prints atop that. Parallels once again will include hobby-only Black parallels (announced /50), flip-stock cards (announced /5), Chromes for 100 cards (/999) with Refractors (/572) -- and Red (/372), Black (/72), Gold (/5), 1/1 Superfractors and Hot Box Refractors just like the first series. There also will be Minis (/100) for 50 players as well as missing stars, color swap, throwback, action and "additional surprises." ... Real One Autographs return with on-card ink and Red (/72 max) parallels and this time around there will be a 1972 World Series Champions set for members of the Oakland A's (/99 max). There also will be 1/1 cut autos sets for baseball stars and celebs of the time. Joining them will be Clubhouse Collection Auto Relics (/25) with 1/1 Patch parallels that are hobby-only along with duals (/10 max) with a 1/1 Patch versions (hobby-only). For standard Relics, there are Clubhouse Collection cards with Gold (/99) and 1/1 Patch parallels along with dual (/72), triple (/25) and quad (/10) cards all also with 1/1 hobby-only patch versions. ... The standard insert lineup will include Rookie Performers, Now & Them, Combo Cards, Award Winners, 1972 World Series Champions and Clemente 3,000 -- a nod to Roberto Clemente's pursuit of the elite milestone. ... Rounding things out will be jumbo box-toppers, 1972 Baseball Posters and stamped buyback cards.
