What's buzz-worthy: Obsidian hits the pitch for a fourth time with some of the biggest stars in the world in play on cards that are both shadowy and colorful. It's a look summed up by Panini as "formed in intense heat in nature, Obsidian represents the intensity and vigor of the game."

The Basics: Each box of this one will include one base, one parallel and one insert atop of the hits in this release just like previous years. The 200-card base set (/115) will have several parallels per card -- see gallery below -- with a mix of popular veteran players from around the world as well as rookies. The Electric Etch Purple Flood (/25) and Gold Flood (/10) a=re new, while Contra parallels will be found one per case. ... Among the hits will be Lightning Strike autos and Volcanic auto-mem sets as well as Galaxy Gear. In all, there are four auto-mem sets to be found here -- jersey autographs, dual-jersey autos, Matrix Material autos and Volcanic Materials. There are eight other auto or memorabilia sets in play here with not all of them teased in advance. ... Among the inserts will be "SP" Black Colorblast while others will include die-cut Vitreous, Supernova, Equinox and Tunnel Vision. ... Boxes once again will carry a suggested retail price of $175.
