What's buzz-worthy: Donruss takes to the diamond for another year as the season-opener for Panini America's baseball offerings with plenty of hits and inserts in every box.

The Basics: Base set details were not disclosed for this one (nor were their parallels), but the formula of past years appears to be in play here with Rated Rookies (50 of those), Retro cards (1988 this time) and more that collectors have liked in this one. ... A typical box will include 24 hobby-only Holo Blue parallels, four Independence Day parallels and one Liberty parallel atop the base and hits. ... Among the inserts will be Unleashed, Rated Prospects (12 players), Dominators, Elite Series, Bomb Squad and The Hit List, while there also will be cards for The Famous San Diego Chicken and Domingo Ayala as we have seen in previous years. Whammy! cards will be case hits here. ... Autographs will include Signature Series, Superstar Scribbles, Monikers and Classics autographs. Among the memorabilia cards will be Retro 1988 Materials -- a massive 97-card set with past, present and future players (prospects) all in play. ... Boxes carry an increased suggested retail price of $90.
