What's buzz-worthy: Optic hits the diamond as a postseason release but with plenty of inserts and color to go with a loaded lineup of stars young and old on Optichrome.

The Basics: Boxes of this one will include 10 Prizm parallels and 20 inserts atop the hits and base just like last year. Also returning are Hot Boxes -- every case will have two autograph Hot Boxes that will include five sigs, while there also will be two Prizm Hot Boxes that include 20 numbered parallels inside. ... Autograph parallels were not detailed for this one, but there will be Rated Rookies, Rated Prospects (10 players) and Retro autos with a 1981 design (28 players). There also will be Elite Series autos. ... The base set will include a slightly higher 210 total -- 110 veterans, 70 Rated Rookies and 30 Diamond Kings. ... Among the inserts will be Bomb Squad and Mythical cards as well as "ultra-rare" Neon and Fort Knox cards. ... Boxes once again carry a suggested retail price of $125.

Update (Oct. 21): There will be 10-card Choice boxes made for this release (20 boxes per case) with three autographs, three Red or Green Dragon parallels and one Freedom or Liberty parallel per box. They'll carry a suggested retail price of $105. ... All cards will have an exclusive pattern with ink having White Mojo, Red and Green parallel sets for starters. Joining the regular Choice autos will be Retro 1988 ink and Elite Signature Series cards with a Mojo finish.
