What's buzz-worthy: Contenders arrives for NFL fans once again with the familiar ticket formula but with new players, new touches and plenty of ink to chase.

The Basics: The typical hobby box of this one will include at least five autos with one of those being on-card ink, while there also will be 19 different inserts and parallels atop the base cards just like last year. ... The base set will be 100 cards with parallels (see below) and they'll be joined by Rookie Ticket autos for top guys along with their own parallel rainbows to chase. Some will have variations. Also in play will be 2002 Rookie Tickets as a nod to the past as well as Signs of Greatness cards and some clear stuff -- Rookie Clear Ticket and SSP Rookie Clear Ticket Mosaic cards. Even more ink? NFL Ink, Legendary Contenders, MVP Contenders, Coaches Ticket and Sunday Ticket Signatures. ... Among the inserts here will be Contenders Series, Superstar and Crown Jewels die-cut cards as well as Touchdown Tandems and Contenders Pennants. ... These 18-pack boxes once again carry a suggested retail price of $225.
