What's buzz-worthy: Prizm takes on the World Cup with boxes that will be loaded with parallels and color for the global game's biggest stars on its biggest stage

The Basics: Hobby boxes of this one will include four numbered parallel cards, two Silver Prizms, six more parallels, 10 inserts and two Silver parallel inserts atop the base and ink here. ... The base set will consist of 300 cards with all 32 teams represented and a huge parallel rainbow. It was not detailed in advance but one will be Maroon (/22) "in honor of the predominant color of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022." ... Among the inserts will be Scorers Club, New Era, Connections, Phenomenon, Global Reach and Team Badges, while on the "ultra rare" side will be National Landmarks cards. Joining them will be "short-printed" inserts -- Manga, National Pride, Color Wheel and the World Cup mascot. ... For ink, there will be at least two sets -- Signatures and Dual Signatures -- with "some of the biggest stars of international soccer, past and present." Among the teased names are João Félix, Lautaro Martínez, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney and Kylian Mbappé. Duals will pair teammates or players from the same country. ... Boxes carry a suggested retail price of $250.

Update (Sept. 30): There also will be 10-pack Breakaway boxes (20 per case) for this one with each guaranteeing two numbered parallels, one Silver Prizm, two Breakaway Prizms, one Silver insert and 14 other inserts. Parallels (see gallery) will also be in play here along with autographs, but not in every box. Other inserts seen in the gallery also will appear in these boxes but without any kind of exclusive Breakaway stock style.
