What's buzz-worthy: Topps' take on T206 tobacco cards is back for a third retro go on the diamond with some new touches among the parallels and 100 cards in the first wave.

The Basics: Just like last year, there will be eight base cards and two parallels per pack ($14.99 initial price) via Topps' site. They'll be available for no more than the next 30 days. The default parallel is once again the Piedmont (two per pack) unless they are replaced by Sweet Caporal (1:3), El Principe de Gales (1:6), Carolina Brights (1:18), Polar Bear (1:30), Tolstoi (/25), American Beauty (/10) or a 1/1 Ty Cobb back version. A new twist here? Wood Paper stock parallels that are limited to only 20 copies. Among the Wave 1 exclusive find are blank-packs (1:20) and veteran image variations (/200) and rookie action image variations (/100). It does not appear there are autographs in this release. ... Among the notables on the checklist? Bo Bichette, Wander Franco, Greg Maddux, Roberto Clemente, George Brett, Nolan Ryan, Deion Sanders, Pee Wee Reese and Aaron Judge among others.

Wave 2 will include exclusive Old Mill cards instead of Sweet Caporal, an image variation of Wave 1 players (/200), a rookie action variation (/100) and a "special All-Star background for base set" for some (/100). ... Among the notables here will be Christy Mathewson, Mariano Rivera, Bryce Harper, Bobby Witt Jr., Ted Williams, Ronald Acuña Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Mike Trout and Ty Cobb for starters (checklist above).
