What's buzz-worthy: MLS cardboard gets Chromed for a sophomore season with a meaty base set, a hit in every box and even more nods to the past.

The Basics: The base set will be 200 cards with each of them having a bigger rainbow of Refractor parallels -- standard (three per box), Speckle (one per box), Aqua (/299), Aqua Lava (/299), Blue Wave (/199), Blue Mini-Diamond (/199), Neon Green (/99), Neon Green Lava (/99), Gold (/50), Gold Mini Diamond (/50), Orange (/25), Red Wave (/5) and 1/1 Superfractors. Some cards once again will have photo variations with those only having Gold, Orange (hobby-only), Red and Superfractor parallels at the same volumes. ... Future Stars inserts will be rare finds -- once again just two per case -- with Gold, Orange, Red and Superfractor versions at the same volumes while 1959 Topps Football cards will be found three times per box. That tweaked version of the pro football design will have Aqua (/99), Green (/75), Gold (/50), Orange (/25), Red (/5) and 1/1 Superfractor parallels. Joining them will be Field Tested inserts for veterans and legends (four per box) and Big-city Strikers (two per box). here will have the same parallels. ... The autographs will have just three hobby-only parallels -- Orange (/25), Red Wave (/5) and 1/1 Superfractors just like last year.
