What's buzz-worthy: Phoenix hits the hardwood as a standalone NBA brand for the first time, packing all of the colorful textures and patterns that other sports have had in the past but with all of the notable active players that basketball fans expect today as well as some stars from the past.

The Basics: Beyond the hits, there will be 18 insert cards (12 parallels, six insert sets) to be found in a typical box here. ... The base set size was not disclosed in advance this year, nor was the full array of parallels, but some will include Lava, Dream Weaver, Fire & Ice, Orange, Green, Gold Vinyl, Color Burst, Blue, Yellow and Gold. Serial-numbering on base parallels will start at /199 and drop from there. ... Among the hits will be rookie jersey autos, Calligraphy, dual rookie jersey autos, rookie memorabilia, jumbo rookie memorabilia, Veteran Materials and Fire Fabrics. ... Among three rarer "SSP" insert sets will be Shooting Stars, Phoenician and Archetype. ... These boxes carry a suggested retail price of $240.
