What's buzz-worthy: Topps revives Chrome for the pro basketball realm with members of the NBA Players Association -- but not NBA team trademarks -- and the early basic teaser images and also the checklist and odds for that upcoming release are here.

The Basics: The base set here will include 190 cards with each having plenty of parallels -- see the odds link above or gallery below for the breakdown -- while inserts will include Infinity, Youthquake, Finesse, Destiny, Coast to Coast and Season's Best. Touted as "SSP" inserts will be Superfly, Rock Stars, Lets Go!, Exposé, Radiating Rookies and Helix cards. There will be a mix of past and present stars here as well as newcomers to the game as well as a 2003-04 LeBron James Time Machine insert that's a nod to his Rookie Card then. ... The ink lineup will be simpler and include Chrome autos, rookie autos, 1972 Topps autos and a signed James Time Machine card. You can see the full lineup of signers at the link above, but some of them will include Bill Walton, Penny Hardaway, Chris Paul, David Robinson, Jayson Tatum, Larry Bird, Manu Ginobili, Robert Parish, Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama, Brandon Miller, Ray Allen, Vince Carter and Jerry West. ... Boxes opened at $269.99 via Topps and a typical box will include 24 Refractors, 12 inserts and the two autos along with 58 base cards.

Update (Aug. 9): There also will be breaker boxes for this one with 12 cards -- two autos, six Refractors, three serial-numbered Geometric parallels and one insert Geometric parallels every time (volumes in gallery). Inserts will have only Purple Geometric parallels, while rarer Helix and Radiating Rookies inserts will only be found as Geometric Green. Autos will have Geometric parallels across the board with Purple, Orange (/25), Red (/5) and Black (/2).
