What's buzz-worthy: Rookies & Stars hits the field with its familiar format but plenty of new names -- rookies -- and then, of course, the stars to go with them.

The Basics: A typical box here will include five numbered cards, two inserts, 12 Rookie Cards and six Optichrome insert cards. The basic set also once again will include 200 cards -- 100 base veterans and 100 rookies -- with each having a rainbow of parallels that were not noted in advance. They will be joined by Crusade inserts with Silver, Pandora, White, Red, Pink, Blue, Purple, Orange, Gold, Green and Black parallels as well as inked versions. ... Among the autos will be Thrillers, Airborne, Stellar Rookies, Rookie Signatures, Great American Signatures (auto-mem) and Dress For Success auto-mem cards for starters. Among memorabilia-only sets will be Dress for Success, Cross Training and Standing Ovation. ... Packs once again will include 10 cards and boxes once again will carry a suggested retail price of $150.
