What's buzz-worthy: The second wave of the flagship release of Topps baseball cards arrives with a similar approach to the past but also with some new looks and new stars on cardboard.

The Basics: The base set for this one will include 330 cards with each having at least 16 parallels -- Rainbow foil, Royal Blue, Blue Foilboard (/999), Purple Foilboard (/799), Gold (/2,023), Green Foilboard (/499), Orange Foilboard (/299), Red Foilboard (/199), Vintage Stock (/99), Independence Day (/76), Black (/72 Hobby/HTA only), Mother's Day Pink (/50), Father's Day Powder Blue (/50), Memorial Day Camo (/25), Clear (/10) and 1/1 Platinum along with printing plates. There also will be art card 1/1 versions with drawings from Luke The Cardist to be found. ... The "limited short-printed" Golden Mirror Image variations with a new image and "golden stock" for all cards are back, too.

Among insert sets in this one will be social media Follow Back cards (/10 or less), Legends of the Game (30 cards), 2023 World Baseball Classic Stars (60 players in the WBC), Favorite Sons (home states), 1988 Topps All-Star and 1988 Topps cards, Significant Statistics, All Aces and another batch of the Heavy Lumber cards that are rare finds on wood stock.  Most inserts will have Blue, Black (/299), Gold (/75), Red (/10) and 1/1 Platinum parallels with some having autographed parallels (/25 max). ... Retail-only inserts will include Stars of MLB and Chrome Stars of MLB as well as Father’s Day team patch manufactured Relics. The Stars cards will have Red (/70), Black (/25) and 1/1 Platinum parallels, while the patches will have Blue (/600), Black (/299), Gold (/75) Red (/10) and 1/1 Platinums and some autos.

For autographed cards, there will be Baseball Stars, Baseball Stars duals (/5 max), 1988 All-Stars and 1988 Topps autos showing past and present players. Stars autos will have Black (/99), Red (/25) and 1/1 Platinum versions while the 1988s will have Black (/199) and Gold (/50 max) only. There also will be Major League Material Cards, All-Star Relics and regular Relics with Black, Gold and Red parallels. Major League Materials also will have autos (/50 max) with only Red and Platinums and there also will be 1/1 cut autos. The Topps Reverence patch autos will be rare finds (/10) with Red (/5) and 1/1 Platinums.

Manufactured Relics will include Crowning Achievements patches and Silver Slugger Award Winners (/399) with each having Black (/299), Gold (/75), Red (/10), 1/1 Platinum and autos (/25 max) for some players.

Jumbo boxes will include two silver packs and a 1988 Topps Record Breaker jumbo box-topper while hobby boxes will include one silver pack. The jumbo toppers will have Gold (/80), Red (/10), 1/1 Platinum and autographed versions (/10 max).
