What's buzz-worthy: The World Baseball Classic helped start the baseball year and now it's one of the releases that will help close out the cardboard year, too

The Basics: The base set is just 100 cards here showcasing stars from all 20 countries at the event, many of whom are MLB players or could be in the future. There will be Cracked Ice (/99), Green Sparkle (/75), Rainbow (/50), Orange Cracked Ice (/25), Black Diffractors (/10), Red Hot Foil (/5) and 1/1 Foilfractors in play for this one. There also will be image variations with five parallel colors to be found (see odds link above). ... Among the inserts will be 20 Captains Of The Classic, a 30-card 2006 Topps set, 10 International Gems and 10 Global Grandeur cards. ... For hits, there will be base autos paralleling some in the base set as well as in the variations along with inked parallels for Gems. Also in play will be Country Debuts autos with parallels, a batch of WBC Relic autos, Nameplate Patch Relic book autos and WBC Base Relics. ... Among the notable autos here? Julio Rodriguez, Juan Soto, Kyle Schwarber, Luis Robert, Mike Trout, Pete Alonso, Ronald Acuña Jr., Shohei Ohtani and a number of other MLB players among a deep checklist. You can see them all at the checklist linked above. ... Boxes carried a suggested retail price of $79.99 via Topps with a limit of four boxes.
