What's buzz-worthy: USA Baseball's baseball cards drop for a new year with a simplified one-pack box that's nothing but hits say for one parallel or insert card.

The Basics: In hobby boxes there will be Velocity, Gold Velocity and Black Velocity parallel cards. Who's in play in this release? The stars of the Collegiate National Team, 18U National Team, 16U/17U National Team Development Program, 15U National Team, 13U/14U Athlete Development Program, Japan Collegiate National Team and Chinese Taipei National Team. There will be Kaboom! inserts to chase along with the parallels in this format once per case. ... Among the sets will be Signatures Materials with pieces of batting gloves, hats, cleats, batting gloves, fielding gloves and jerseys in the mix. Jumbo Materials cards also will be in there with flag patches and brand logos among the types. ... Boxes will carry a suggested retail price of $100.

Update: There also will be H2 boxes for this one arriving on June 7 with a more-traditional format and their own exclusives, too. These 12-pack boxes (SRP $60 a box) will come 20 per case and include two autographs, one memorabilia card and 18 parallels per 60-card box. Base parallels here will include America and Crystals cards, while hits will have Red, Gold, Crystals and Platinum versions. There also will be National Team Development Program autos and among the memorabilia cards will be USA Materials and jumbos.
