First Buzz: 2024 Topps Chrome football cards (updated)

What's buzz-worthy: Topps Chrome will hit the football field once again soon but, for now, all we know are the basics from an early checklist and preview images for this return.

Keep reading for more info and a gallery of images.

The Basics: The base set will consist of 200 Hall of Famers and retired greats, while the final 100 cards of this one will be rookies in their NFL colors but with logos removed due to licensing limitations. Parallels will be in play across the board but are not yet known here or for inserts and autos.

Among the autographed sets will be standard base parallel autos, All-Etch, All-Etch Rookie Rush, All-Pro, Chrome Legends, duals, Future Stars, rookie autos and rookie patch autos. Among the memorabilia cards here will be First Year Fabric and Rookie Relics.

For inserts, there will be 1974 Topps, All-Chrome, All-Etch, Dazzling Debuts, Finesse, Future Stars, Helix, Into Existence, Legends Of The Gridiron, Let's Go!, Radiating Rookies, Sunday Swag, Urban Legends and Youthquake. You can see all players involved at the preliminary checklist linked above.

Hobby boxes opened at $319.99 via Topps.

Update (March 14): Sapphire Edition boxes are coming for this one -- $429.99 a pop via Topps -- with images in gallery below and odds/checklist linked up top.
