What's buzz-worthy: The teases of the first Topps baseball card set of 2024 are here along with a checklist in advance of a full formal reveal to come soon before it arrives in collectors' hands next month.

The Basics: The base set for this one apparently will include 350 cards. Parallels will include, for starters, Gold foil, Rainbow, Royal Blue, Yellow, Gold (/2,024), Blue foil (/999), Purple foil (/799), Green foil (/499), Orange foil (/299), Red foil (/199), Vintage stock (/99), Independence Day (/76), Black (/73), Blue (/50), Pink (/50), Yellow Crackle (/25), Camo (/25), Clear (/10), and 1/1 Platinum, as well as printing plates. There also will be holiday blaster parallels that include Eggs, Rabbits, Flowers (/50), Umbrella (/10), Watering Can (/5) and 1/1 Roses.
Among the inserts will be Superstar Blueprint, Grand Gamers, 2023 Greatest Hits, Heavy Lumber (/500), Homefield Advantage, Legendary Homefield Advantage (one per case), Celebration of The Kid (Ken Griffey Jr.), 2023 All-Topps Team, retail-only Stars of MLB and Chrome Stars of MLB and a take on 1989 Topps for starters. Also back will be the Home Run Challenge and Social Media Follow Back redemptions. An exclusive to monster box formats will be Topps Mega Stars cards as well as 1989 Topps Foils. Super Boxes will be back, too, with oversized cards of some players as well as companion cards. Silver Chrome box-topper packs also will be in play with a take on 1989 Topps for 100 players and autographs will be part of the chase there, too. Meanwhile, the Golden Mirror Image Variations will return with a rarer version of every card in the base set. Joining them will be a Team Color Border variation for some cards. There will be parallels of inserts as well with the familiar Blue, Black, Gold, Red and Platinum rainbows as well as some with retro stock and foilboard treatments.
For manufactured Relics, there will be Home Sweet Stadium Medallions (/299). Only found in hobby and jumbo packs will be City Connect Swatch Collection cards. ... For standard Relics, there will be Major League Material cards, 1989 Topps Relics, World Champion Relics (/99), Postseason Performance Relics (/99) and 1/1 In The Name Relics. ... Material parallels will include Black (/199), Gold (/50), Red (/25) and 1/1 Platinums. Those same parallels will be in play for City Connect and 1989 Topps cards, while others will have Gold and Platinums to chase.
For inked hits, there will be a selection of 1/1 cut autos, Reverence patch autos (/10), Major League Material autos (/50 max), Heavy Lumber autos (/25 max), World Champion autos and auto Relics, Postseason Performance autos (/50) and auto Relics (/50), autographed Home Sweet Home Stadium Medallion cards, Baseball Stars, Baseball Stars duals (/10 max), 1989 Topps, 2023 All-Topps Team, Superstar Blueprint, Grand Gamers, 2023 Greatest Hits and 24 Celebration of The Kid autos. Auto sets with parallels are typically having Black, Gold, Red and 1/1 Platinum versions.
Among the RCs in this series? Elly De La Cruz, Evan Carter, Nolan Schanuel, AJ Smith-Shawver and Christian Encarnacion-Strand.
Among notable autos to be found here? Cuts will include Babe Ruth, Connie Mack, Cy Young, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Roberto Clemente, Roger Maris, Satchel Paige, Ty Cobb and Ted Williams for starters. Among living signers there will be ink from the likes of Aaron Judge, Anthony Volpe, Corbin Carroll, Chipper Jones, Cal Ripken Jr., Derek Jeter, Elly De La Cruz, Jasson Dominguez, Julio Rodriguez, Juan Soto, Larry Walker, Mike Piazza, Mike Trout, Ronald Acuña Jr., Shohei Ohtani, Adley Rutschman, Corey Seager, Michael Harris, Bryce Harper, Bobby Witt Jr., Matt Olson, Spencer Strider, Johnny Bench, Bo Jackson, Wade Boggs, George Brett, Ichiro Suzuki, Ken Griffey Jr., Don Mattingly, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Robin Yount, Mark McGwire, Nolan Ryan, Evan Carter and plenty more.
Update (Jan. 16): Pre-sales of hobby boxes opened at $89.99 via Topps, while jumbos opened at $159.99.
Update (Jan. 23): Among the final details revealed for this one are First Card parallels (see Elly card in gallery), True Photo variations that eliminate the border to just show the photos and that Team Color variations will be found just one per case. ... Insert set parallels typically will include Blue, Black (/299), Gold (/75), Red (/10) and 1/1 Platinum as well as autographed versions (/25 max). The 1989s will also include a Real One parallel (/89) on retro stock. ... Another find will be 1/1 sketch cards, while the Home Sweet Stadium Medallion parallels will include Gold (/75), Red (/10), 1/1 Platinum, autos (/25 max), Red autos (/10) and 1/1 Platinum autos. Other numbering volumes have been added above.

What's the price on a hobby box? Blaster box? Cards definitely look better than last year. Excited about opening a few boxes!!
Cards look really good especially the 1989 retro cards I hope I get an 1989 retro autograph
