What's buzz-worthy: Trek's original run gets a new run on cardboard with a number of big names signing on with extra inscriptions as well as a number of other inclusions to collect.

The Basics: The inscriptions autos (list below with gallery -- click for closer look) will include William Shatner, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig among others with one of this type of card in every box and a number of different inscriptions to be had. Joining them will be new Classic TOS autos that will include Shatner, Mal Friedman, Jay Jones and April Tatro among others, while cut autographs will be found for Arnold Moss and Angelique Pettyjohn.

The base set will take on a different look with 98 cards with "variable inscriptions" where quotes from characters get a ride with different versions to be found -- a "where no base set has gone before" approach, according to Rittenhouse Archives. Joining them will be a 44-card The City on the Edge of Forever Uncut insert set focusing on that memorable episode along with 18-card Laser Cut Villains and Heroes & Villains expansion sets as well as sketch cards. There will be a number of incentive cards for multiple-case buyers with a Walter Koenig and Bonnie Beecher dual-auto for six-case buyers, a Joan Collins auto for nine-case buyers and an Archive Box for 18-case buyers that will include a printing plate set for one card as well as a silver-signature auto for Teri Garr. In Addition to the wax and bonuses, there also will be an album (four per case) that will include a promo card.

Update (April 22): The TOS Laser Cut Villains insert cards planned for this one will be a redemption for the entire set found one in 432 packs. Why? "The printer who makes these cards for us does government work related to the COVID-19 situation," according to Rittenhouse Archives President Steve Charendoff. "As a result, the printing of these cards was delayed. So instead, we created a redemption card for the full 18-card set." This release is sold out but "we should have these cards/sets ready to ship out very close to the release date."
