Franmil Reyes humiliates Triple-A pitchers this month

Forget the fact that he's a member of the El Paso Chihuahuas ... he's the big dog so far this month in Minor League Baseball.

He's 22-year-old San Diego Padres outfield prospect Franmil Reyes and he's demolishing pitchers right now.

His average the last 10 games? It's .462. His RBI total? It's at 15 in that span. But those are nothing as he's been on an even bigger tear in the last five days.

On Wednesday he hit two homers. On Thursday he hit two homers. On Friday he hit two homers. On Saturday he homered. On Sunday he homered. That's a longball in five straight games and a total of eight in that span -- a 14-for-20 clip (.700 average) with 11 runs and 13 RBI. His team doesn't even have an off day until May 16, so there could be plenty more firepower to come this week and beyond.

What makes this prospect even more interesting? He's got cards in just one past baseball card set -- 2014 Bowman Chrome and its Mini counterpart set. That's it. His only autographs? In those packs.

No other card company has had him in a set -- that's incredibly difficult in today's prospecting card landscape -- and his only other possible cards would in various minor league team issues.

Reyes has been in the minors since he was a 16-year-old in 2012. He's hit .267 with 81 home runs and 411 RBI in 670 career games. His power has developed the last two seasons with 25 in San Antonio last year and 16 for Lake Elsinore in 2016. So far this season, his totals are at 13 homers and 34 RBI while hitting .339 for Triple-A El Paso.

His priciest card on eBay right now is his unsigned Superfractor, which has graded a BGS 9.5 and is at $1,499.99 Buy-It-Now or best offer. Also checking in at that price is a Red Refractor auto among roughly 120 active auctions. Check completeds and you'll see his signed Superfractor showing a $1,299 sale -- ungraded. Other sales aren't as hefty but there's a good volume of sales as he's as close to MLB as he's been in his career.
