Free Comic Book Day is Saturday with free books and more

If it's been a while since you last visited a comic book shop, there are a few reasons you might want to this weekend.

There are 50 of them potentially up for grabs for free as part of Free Comic Book Day, an annual event to reward regular visitors and get others back into the fold.

It's set for this Saturday at participating shops who'll have a lineup of books available that are all made for this event.

There will be new books for a number of big titles such as The Avengers and Amazing Spider-Man but also a number of independent publishers, too. There will be books with other entertainment tie-ins, too, with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Disney Princesses, Doctor Who, Pokemon, Riverdale, Bob's Burgers, Tank Girl, Ghost in the Shell, James Bond and Star Wars among the lineup.

Atop the free books, which you can all see here in a gallery below, there will be limited variant toys from a few manufacturers also available on Saturday. (Those? Not free.) Cryptozoic will have a miniature Harley Quinn figure to add to the fan-favorite DC Bombshells line, while there will be a Marvel HeroClix Gladiator Hulk, new DC Vinimates figures of Nightwing and Batgirl and a Funko Pop!
