Group breaker Clay Parks one of five Aurora shooting victims

The sports card community lost a friend last week.

Clay Parks was one of the five people who died during the Henry Pratt Co., shooting in Aurora, Ill., on Friday. He was the HR manager at the company and had joined that team last November. In the card world, he ran Sportszilla Breaks for the last couple years along with his wife, Abby.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for their son Axel's college fund. It has reached $7,000 of its $20,000 goal in the first two days. Blowout Cards offers its support and condolences, encouraging those who collect to help the family at this unfortunate time.

Collecting was something the couple had done together and group breaks was something they did together while living in Elgin, Ill.

"Sportszilla Breaks is a two-person husband and wife team based out of the Midwest," read the company's description. "We've been collecting cards and sports memorabilia for the past 20-plus years, so we know how important quality is to a collector."

The 32-year-old was an alumnus of Northern Illinois University and graduated in 2014 with a business degree. He had previously worked as a salesman for American TV & Appliance after high school before getting his degree. He had worked for Caterpillar Inc. before moving to Henry Pratt, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"Every time I’ve closed my eyes over the last twelve hours, I’ve opened them hoping to wake from a terrible dream, but that’s not the case. I’m living my worst nightmare," Abby Parks wrote on Facebook. "My husband, my love, my best friend, and the incredible father of our sweet son was taken from us yesterday in the shooting in Aurora, and I am devastated. Axel and I have been surrounded by friends and family and are appreciative of all of the prayers and support we are receiving."
