It was 50 years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play and one of the faces you can see on the famed cover of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band above can be yours.
No, seriously, one of the props on that cover of The Beatles' iconic album that dropped in the United States on this day in 1967 is available in the newest Heritage Auctions sale running now until June 17.
A mounted cutout of actor Tony Curtis, which can be seen just above and to the left of John Lennon on the cover is one of several big items on the auction block. This particular piece has been signed on its back "The Beatles chose ME for St. Pepper -- Tony Curtis" and has an opening bid of $30,000. (See more images and details on it here.)
Several other lots in the auction include signed guitars and some guitars actually used from James Jamerson, the Grateful Dead, Johnny Cash, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Slash, Mick Mars and Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe, Madonna, Waylon Jennings, Anne and Nancy Wilson of Heart and even a destroyed guitar used by Courtney Love for a past magazine shoot.
Autographed pieces from The Beatles, The Doors, Janis Joplin and clothing from Jimi Hendrix are also among the hundreds of pieces up for grabs. The Beatles recalled "baby butcher" cover of Yesterday And Today is also a huge piece in the auction. A small sampling can be seen in the gallery below -- click to enter the gallery and get more details on each piece and where bidding stands at the moment.
