HobbyPalooza! 2020 offers virtual hub for fans starting Friday

Tomorrow would have marked the opening day of the National Sports Collectors Convention this year in Atlantic City, N.J., but that's not happening thanks to the coronavirus' life-changing grip on the country.

However, thanks to a group of podcasting collectors, there will be plenty of card chatter going on this weekend as HobbyPalooza! 2020 is here beginning on Friday at 2 p.m. Eastern time.

What is it? It will be a marathon of 35 hours full of card chatter from a number of different areas of the industry -- a virtual hangout.

Check out the video above for an introduction of the idea and a little more of what's in store for HobbyPalooza! 2020. Among the announced streamers for this one will be PackGeek, BreakerCulture, Project 2020 artist Blake Jamieson, Brody The Kid, Blowout Forum mainstay ThoseBackPages, reps from Topps and Panini America and more -- a bit of a virtual con all in one spot. Streams start at 2 p.m. each day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and run deep into the night.

"Our goal is to replicate this in the most natural way possible," reads the intro page on the site, "almost all of the LIVE episodes will have unique topics, collaboration sessions, giveaways, Q&A and so much more. The main focus being meeting others and building hobby friends."
