Topps celebrates International Trading Card Day on Aug. 6

National Baseball Card Day is going global ... and it's going beyond baseball.

Topps revealed on Wednesday that Aug. 6 will be International Trading Card Day in hobby shops around the world with Major League Baseball stars in play along with UEFA Champions League soccer stars and even the Garbage Pail Kids on tap.

Collectors who visit participating hobby shops that day will receive a free pack of Topps cards -- a choice from packs of the three entities mentioned. Atop that, anybody who purchases $10 or more of Topps or Bowman products on Aug. 6 will get a special Shohei Ohtani card. If they come back on Aug. 13 and do that again, they'll get Wander Franco card.

Packs will include five cards and a topper card. MLB packs will be most plentiful -- 60 percent of the packs allocated to a dealer -- while soccer will be 26 percent of the packs and the GPKs will be the rarest packs at 14 percent of the total for each batch a participating shop receives. (Shops order and pay for 50-pack boxes for the promotion.) They also will receive 30 Ohtani cards and 20 Franco cards for each unit they order from Topps to give away to customers.
