If you happen to look at the backs of the 2019-20 Donruss Optic T-Minus 3, 2, 1, insert cards -- ones that show NBA players ready for liftoff on the front -- you might notice something.

It's the Flux Capacitor from Dr. Emmett Brown's DeLorean time machine in Back to The Future.

No, really ... and it's not alone.

If you know Spaceballs, then you might know about Ridiculous speed, Ludicrous speed and Plaid. Also right nearby? A blue label that says "THX 1138" -- the name of the 1971 sci-fi film made by George Lucas well before Star Wars was a reality. He worked references to that one into various Star Wars projects later.

The top left of every card from the set that I've seen shows a subtle logo for Pan Universe Airlines -- a "space airline in the future featured in Airplane II: The Sequel. It is Moonbound from Houston," according to these experts.

There are undoubtedly more since there are a lot of small details on the backs of these cards, including that odd tape-player up top that screams Guardians of the Galaxy to me, though I haven't gone back to watch the movie today to verify. There's also one faint line above the player blurb reads Centaur Upper Stage, an apparent reference to some real-life rockets.

One thing that was a giveaway to me about something being up here beyond the visuals on every card is this next detail. Each player has a unique number listed below the card's blurb console -- GPS coordinates for their home arena. The Philadelphia 76ers, for example, are at Latitude 39.9012015 and Longitude -75.1719795 -- the location of the Wells Fargo Center. The Warriors' Chase Center also is in play and one other in the gallery.

I only pulled three different players from this set in my boxes today, so I only have a few images below for you to chew on from this 10-card set with eight -- eight! -- parallel versions per card. I'm sure that green radar screen has to be something and I'm sure everything else is, too, after spotting the ones mentioned above.

Solve this mystery for me, movie fans ... I need to know the rest. Click for a closer look at the details below.

Update: The tiny green label up top that says "Don't panic" is a nod to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The red circle below that label appears to be the HAL 9000 artificial-intelligence villain from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
