Da Bears will have a spot at the Panini America VIP Party.
Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka is the latest star to be revealed by Panini for its big event coinciding with The National this weekend. He's the fourth guest announced for the event rewarding high-rollers in the hobby.
On Tuesday, the company revealed that Basketball Hall of Famer Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, former NBA Slam Dunk Champion Spud Webb as well as Patrick Renna of The Sandlot all will be part of the big show Saturday night in Chicago.
Ditka, who first won a Super Bowl ring with the Dallas Cowboys in 1972, coached the Bears to a dominating win in Super Bowl XX. As a player, he had 427 catches for 5,812 yards and 43 touchdowns for the Bears, Eagles and Cowboys before he was named to the NFL's 75th Anniversary team and had his number retired by the Bears. He then coached for the Cowboys (assistant), Bears and Saints for parts of three decades.
Cooper, who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010, had a career that included four WNBA titles, four Finals MVPs, two season MVPs and plenty of other honors after starring at Southern California and having plenty of successful playing time in Europe before the WNBA arrived.
Webb, who was a fourth-round pick in 1985, stood just 5-foot-7 but was a standout for the Hawks and Kings for most of his career when he averaged 9.9 points a game. He w0n the 1986 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.
Renna made his film debut in the 1993 classic revolving around a group of baseball-loving kids. His other credits have included spots on Boy Meets World, Home Improvement, The X-Files, ER, Judging Amy, The Closer, Boston Legal, CSI, Bones and GLOW.
More guests will be announced in the coming days as the company reveals details during The National, which begins today at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
