Monty Python & The Holy Grail The Game on way via Dynamite

A comedy classic is coming to the board game realm thanks to a successful BackerKit campaign -- and it could include additional surprises depending on how high it goes.

It's Monty Python & The Holy Grail The Game and it's coming in July from Dynamite Entertainment for those who back its production right here. The game-makers' goal was $50,000 to put this one into production and it's already sitting at more than $140,000 with almost a month to go.

In other words, The Black Knight ain't stopping this one, which its creators call "an epic adventure of absurdity."

Beyond the game play, which includes a 20-inch board, wooden meeples (figures used as playing pieces), a three-dimensional catapult for cows and decks of game-play cards -- something alone that might be collected by those who aren't merely gamers -- this one showcases original movie artwork and stills from the 1975 classic -- you can see its original trailer here for a taste.

A summation from the creators says this one will let you "venture to far off lands to battle The Black Knight, catapult cows, hurl insults and complete the most quests to prove that you are the most valorous knight of all. So, gather up your coconuts and get ready to ride off with a few fond friends, because no one can say 'ni' to the weirdest (and perhaps most pointless) game you’ll play this week."

And you won't even suffer any flesh wounds.
