National Baseball Card Day is Saturday ... are you ready?

The clock is ticking down and the cardboard is ready.

Saturday is Topps National Baseball Card Day and whether you're a regular at your local card shop or you're somebody who ripped into packs just for the gum decades ago, some free stuff can be yours at participating shops as well as The Fantastic Store.

Also back this year with this one is a retail component -- keep reading for those details -- as part of the annual event that Topps hopes will draw people into collecting with some new stuff to add to their stash.

There will be free NBCD packs for those who visit a shop on Saturday -- autographs will be possible there -- and there will be a bonus card available with a $10 purchase. This year that's a Pete Alonso card and there is a second bonus that you can get with a visit one week later on Aug. 15 -- a Yordan Alvarez card.

For those without a hobby shop, Topps' plans called for a specially marked 2020 Topps Chrome hanger box with a NBCD pack inside at Target stores and some type of Topps Fire offer, while Walmart will have the same but with a nod to Topps Gallery, its retail exclusive this year. An apparent bonus card at retail like the Alonso and Alvarez will be a Mike Trout card though no details were given for how that one will be distributed.

The NBCD set will consist of 30 cards featuring a number of notables -- including a Luis Robert Rookie Card as the only rookie presence -- and in those packs can also be cards from 20 signers, a list that includes Aaron Judge, Fernando Tatis Jr., Gavin Lux, Keston Hiura, Trout, Alvarez and others.
