New Topps Star Wars 3D set takes on galaxy's greats

This galaxy's cardboard has just gone three-dimensional.

Topps revealed its 2020 Topps Star Wars 3D set on Thursday as part of the Topps On Demand series -- its 27th of the year -- and it's a simple release that will still present a number of challenges for those who try to collect this comprehensive all-areas-of-the-franchise release.

Each pack is just eight cards for $19.99 via Topps.com -- the lone initial way it will be offered for just seven days. The set is 100 cards using the simple 1980 Topps Empire Strikes Back design but with lenticular stock that makes everything appear three-dimensional. The challenge? There are no other parallels or inserts but that would still take 13 perfectly collated packs to collect the entire set, giving it a bit of a premium price to go with that premium feel.

The checklist, which you can see below, includes legendary original cast members as well as lesser but still memorable names from the original trilogy as well as the recent ones, Solo, Rogue One and even The Mandalorian (Baby Yoda!).
