Oscar Piastri gets the call to McLaren in Formula 1 next year

Even if you didn't land The Big One ripping Formula 1 last year, it might be time to be checking back in on those cards.

Why?

Oscar Piastri, a 21-year-old Australian star who's presently a F1 reserve but a F2 champion, will be joining the McLaren team next season in the F1 ranks. He's, according to one ESPN analyst, "the best young driver to enter F1 since the 2019 rookie class of Lando Norris -- who will be his teammate in 2023 -- George Russell and Alex Albon."

And the good news is that he's already had Topps cards to look out for.

Piastri appears on almost 150 cards in 2021 Topps releases -- a full array of base, parallels, inserts and also autographs in 2021 Topps Chrome F1 and 2021 Topps F1 releases.

He's definitely not an unknown to buyers here -- just look at active prices on eBay -- but casuals curious about F1 who didn't find a Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen might not have known Piastri or others.

Past sales are pretty impressive for slabs, click over to completed auctions for another show -- and now imagine what it all might look like if he arrives with a bang on the top level with a top team.
