Ozzie Albies' walk-off home run spawns Topps Now autographs

A called shot leads to a baseball card.

That's exactly what has happened -- in the same day -- in the case of Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies after his walk-off home run in the 11th inning of yesterday's game at SunTrust Park -- a longball that actually ended the game early this morning.

"It's time to go long now," he said to a teammate before he did just that.

Earlier today, Topps revealed the Topps Now card to document it all, complete with autographs to come for those who take the plunge with the celebration-focused card that has photos on the front and back and will only be available for 24 hours.

The unsigned version of the card will be made to order after the initial ordering window on Topps.com closes and the six autographs are already moving fast.

The standard autograph -- already sold out -- is limited to 99 copies at $99.99, while the rest of the rainbow includes Blue (/49, $199.99), Purple (/25, $299.99), Red (/10, $499.99), Orange (/5, $699.99) and Gold (1/1, $2,999.99). Those rarest ones? They're already sold out, too.

Allies has been a heavily watched prospect since his arrival on cardboard in 2015 and some eBay prices show people know his potential. He's already got more than 600 different cards but his Rookie Card appearances are in this this year's brands -- Bowman, Diamond Kings, Donruss, Topps, Opening Day, Gypsy Queen, Heritage and everything else that has recently arrived.

He's got nearly 200 different certified autos so far and he made his debut in that regard in just three 2015 brands -- Bowman, Elite Extra Edition and Panini Contenders. He's been a regular auto appearance in prospecting brands since then, especially in 2016, and then 2017 appearances with Donruss, Diamond Kings and Pro Debut. He's got more than 50 different autographs alone this year with more to come for sure along with many more RCs. Right now, Diamond Kings, Topps and Topps Tribute are the easiest places to land his ink among this year's releases.
