If Tim Raines makes it into the Baseball Hall of Fame later today, he just might be one of the easier Cooperstown residents to collect based on his early cardboard.

He's got just four regular-issue cards and one team-issued release from his Rookie Card season of 1981 and all but one of them can be easily found for a few bucks. These quickly printed and often roughly cut gems of the past are not easy finds in high grade, though -- even straight out of packs opened today -- so graded copies have been where the biggest action has been of late.

Nearly 30 lots of memorabilia from one of MLB's most-legendary hitters has hit the auction block -- the balls from his first home run and his 3,000th hit, his Hall of Fame ring, his Silver Slugger awards and plenty more could soon be in collectors' hands.

That legend is Tony Gwynn and Laguna Niguel, Calif.-based SCP Auctions is handling this second sale of his estate's memorabilia. Just like before, a portion of the sales will will go to the Tony & Alicia Gwynn Foundation, which focuses on improving opportunities for kids.

"My husband was a man of honor and integrity who really wanted to make a difference in this world," said Alicia Gwynn, the Hall of Famer's widow. "Just like the first auction, this one serves two objectives: to share his baseball memorabilia with the fans who loved him and to give something back to the city that treated us so well."

Carl Edwards' surprise exit from NASCAR for the upcoming season puts the spotlight on his replacement and, in turn, is likely to warm things up for what cardboard there is for him.

Replacing Edwards in the No. 19 Toyota of Joe Gibbs Racing is Daniel Suarez, who's already made a little history in recent months before becoming the newest rookie in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

Suarez was the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR national championship when he took home top honors in the Xfinity Series last year.

Bo was one of the biggest stars of the 1980s as a college football star, a professional baseball and football star and a marketing star. Everybody knew his name and they still know why.

And then suddenly one day it was gone.

Sure, Vincent Edward Jackson played some baseball after his final NFL game -- that hip injury was 26 years ago tomorrow -- but he was never the same. And in an interview today he had a different take on his career.

"If I knew back then what I know now," he told USA TODAY Sports, "I would have never played football. Never. I wish I had known about all of those head injuries, but no one knew that. And the people that did know that, they wouldn’t tell anybody."

His career as a pro -- in both sports -- lasted less than a decade but he's easily one of the biggest icons of his time. It's a story worth checking out if you missed it and it's worth revisiting if you didn't.

Here, though, we simply have one bit of curiosity presented below.
