Panini NBA Player of the Day promotion arrives for new run

Basketball collectors now have another reason to hit the hobby shop daily.

The annual Panini NBA Player of the Day promo is back and it gives basketball collectors a little extra to check in on when they rip into packs of Panini America cards at participating shops through April 14.

Among the prizes? The chance to spend the say with an NBA player as well as autographed cards and other bonuses.

“The Player of the Day promotion helps hobby shops sell more trading cards while rewarding collectors who purchase Panini America products,” said Jason Howarth, Panini VP of Marketing. “We are thrilled to support hobby shops selling our NBA trading cards by expanding this proven promotion to even more hobby shops. We look forward to creating more memorable experiences for collectors this year.”

How it works is simple. Each day during the promo, an NBA player is tabbed as Player of the Day while Panini spokesmen Kevin Durant, Trae Young and Kyrie Irving are wildcards. When a collector purchases a Panini NBA pack and finds the player or a wildcard inside, they win a prize. In addition to this, stores will conduct a drawing from their daily winners for a weekly prize. At the end of the month, a grand prize will be awarded and they will be entered into the national contest for the player visit. Everybody there who doesn't win the big one will get autographed cards of Irving, Damian Lillard, Grant Hill, Allen Iverson, Tracy McGrady or Kobe Bryant.

The 2018-19 Panini NBA Player of the Day set includes 30 cards with parallels sets numbered to one, five, 10 and 15 copies apiece. There also will be 20 rookies with parallels limited to one, 10, 20 and 30. Rounding everything out are three Bryant cards and seven NBA Legends. Parallels there will be limited to one, 10, 20 and 30.

Among possible autos are John Collins, Caris LeVert, Kemba Walker, Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, Michael Porter Jr., Jaren Jackson Jr., Marvin Bagley III, Donte DiVincenzo, Kevin Knox, Mo Bamba, Lonnie Walker IV and Grayson Allen, while a 40-card rookie memorabilia set includes DeAndre Ayton, Young and Luka Doncic to name a few.
