Pro Set is back ... as Leaf print-on-demand set (updated)

Update (March 1): The first card sold 57,111 copies and 1,000 of the cards in that total will be reversed-negative variations. They will be randomly placed into orders, according to Leaf.

Pro Set football cards are back in the collecting landscape for the first time in nearly 30 years -- but you can't yet open packs to get them.

They're back as print-to-order program from Leaf Trading Cards that kicks off today with likely No. 1 draft pick Trevor Lawrence as the first card in the 2021 Pro Set series.

The card will be available until Feb. 28 and at that time the number of cards ordered will be printed. Cards are $7.99 for one with quantity discounts available. You can find 10-card and 20-card lots via Blowout here.

Similar to the Leaf iCards, these will be glossed on both sides and the volume of cards ordered will be revealed once the deadline passes.

It's also a launching point for the brand's return. According to Leaf, there will be Pro Set cards in packs in the future.

Pro Set was the official NFL trading card with full releases from 1989 to 1993 before it closed in 1994 after producing promo cards for sets that were never made. The Lawrence card uses the design from the 1989 Series II set where new draft picks and other prospects appeared on bright orange cards seeded into packs with Series I cards.

Update (March 3): The second and third cards in the series are now available -- Justin Fields and Heisman winner Devonta Smith -- with the same pricing from Leaf and this time an error/variation's presence was announced in advance for both cards. (What it will be was not specified.) You can find 10-card and 20-card lots via Blowout here. Also, autographed copies of all three cards numbered to 99 copies will be sold via Leaf's site on March 5. Later autographs will be added to the gallery as revealed.

Update (May 2): Some newer cards (but not all) have been added to the gallery.
