Rob Manfred's 2020 Topps card sparks some big eBay sales

Don't call it a Rookie Card -- it's not -- but you can call it one that's in demand.

It's a short-printed 2020 Topps Series 1 card of MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and it's generated some pretty good heat on eBay since the arrival of the hobby's flagship set early this month.

The first copy of this card to sell on eBay went for $425 after 27 bids back on Feb. 16 -- seriously -- and since then just four other copies have surfaced and sold. Those have ranged from $55 to $205.50.

Meanwhile, there are just three active auctions for the card -- two with bids and plenty of time remaining and then a copy with a $299.99 Buy-It-Now.

Manfred, 61, has served as commissioner since 2015 and was previously the executive vice president and then chief operating officer for MLB. He first appeared on in packs back in 2017 Topps Archives, which included him on a base card in the set using the 1982 Topps design. That one also had parallels, jumbos and wall art made by the company and he signed five different cards for that same release -- a standard version that was not numbered and four parallels totaling just 251 signatures.

This new release is his only other appearance in packs of MLB cards.
