Seuly Matias' power surge surpasses his autograph total

It's not the flashiest autograph, but it could be one in much wider demand soon.

The ink from Kansas City Royals prospect Seuly Matias can only be found in a single product right now -- 2017 Elite Extra Edition -- and he's a 19-year-old putting up some impressive numbers in Class-A ball this season.

He's got 22 home runs in just 201 at-bats for the Lexington Legends this season -- and that's more ink than he has certified autograph cards.

His batting average isn't all that right now -- just .244 -- but he's also got 40 RBI in just 56 games. He had just 15 total homers in two previous MiLB seasons. The Sporting News frames his power surge in a different way -- his 22 homers in 223 plate appearances is 104 fewer appearances than Mike Trout who has 23 homers this season. J.D. Martinez's 22 homers? They've take 299. Jose Ramirez? His 21 have taken 318.

Sure, the competition is a little different -- as are those batting averages in some cases -- but it's still interesting and even moreso when you see his lack of baseball cards.

As mentioned, his only certified autos are in 2017 EEE, while his first MLB prospect cards are in 2016 Bowman but without any ink. And, even more interestingly, he doesn't have any cards in any other products beyond these two. That's fewer than 60 different cards in all and his autographs in EEE aren't plentiful. There's one that's unnumbered and just two over 25 copies made (35 and 50) among the 14 parallels -- and you won't find a lot of his autos on eBay, either, which is helping the asking prices right now.
