StarStock adds streaming video auctions to lineup of services

StarStock has been a home for online breaks and plenty of card-selling on its marketplace but there's one more component coming next week from the Mamaroneck, N.Y.-based company.

Live-streamed daily auctions for just one hour every weeknight.

"StarStock Auctions will feature an innovative new format that has been reimagined for the digital world, live-streamed daily, and lasting no longer than one to three minutes in duration per lot," said a company announcement from CEO Scott Greenberg revealing the service that launches on Nov. 23. "StarStock Auctions will be instantaneous, immediately gratifying, and packed with high entertainment value."

Auctions will broadcast for one hour starting at 7 p.m. Eastern on its site with extended bidding part of the action. There also will be free instant vaulting on the site, access to comparable sales info, live chat and, of course, the social aspects of its platform are all in play, too. Cards also can be submitted to grading companies from the site.

"At its core, the defining feature of our auctions will be its integration with the StarStock marketplace, as the value provided to the user extends far beyond the auction itself," the announcement said. "Winning bidders will have the unique ability to vault their cards for free, where they can then utilize all of the benefits of StarStock’s platform. Creating this bridge is another step toward allowing our users to invest more quickly and at scale."

The lineup will begin with StarStock-owned items and pieces from "select selling partners" at first, but the company does "plan to make it available for all users to submit cards to auctions in the future." Greenberg will have a live chat about the launch tomorrow (Nov. 17) at 8 p.m. Eastern as well. The basics on StarStock Auctions can be found here.
