Start Me Up: Rolling Stones cards coming via Panini (updated)

You can't always get what you want ... but if you need new Rolling Stones trading cards Panini America is on it.

Prizm is going platinum and the reveal on Monday beyond the details of the new deal was the name of the first release, Prizm The Rolling Stones. It "will celebrate more than 60 years of the Stones as a band and chronicle their music and record-setting tours. The Prizm brand will provide a broad canvas to celebrate the Stones’ inimitable style and iconic artwork."

"The Rolling Stones are an iconic brand, are integral to the history of music, and have millions of dedicated fans across the globe," said Panini CEO Mark Warsop. "We are proud to be partnering with them and to share our products celebrating their legacy and so many of their memorable moments. We think that fans will be very excited."

Bravado, the licensing company for the legendary band, echoed the excitement in a prepared statement.

"We're thrilled to be working with Panini on this career-spanning collection that celebrates the history, success and continued global appeal of The Rolling Stones," said Bravado President Matt Young. "Panini's focus on premium design and collectability make this a perfect partnership for Rolling Stones fans all around the world and we can’t wait for them to see what is planned."

While the full set details -- a set-list of sorts -- will be revealed at a later time, there will be plenty of Prizm color (15 parallels) for all 100 base cards as well as Hot Lips die-cuts, International Licks, Stubs, Albums die-cut cards and Color Blast inserts that will showcase Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood in front of a color burst Stones logo in both hobby and retail boxes. Other inserts will include Behind The Scenes, The Original Stadium Show, Singles and Poster Perfection.

Update (Jan. 29, 2025): Set to arrive on March 5, there will be a six-pack hobby mega box for this one (SRP $50) with seven cards per pack as well as some exclusives. There will be two Silver Prizms and four numbered base parallels per mega with other inserts also in play. Red & Black Checker parallels will be found here and Albums inserts will have Tie-dye parallels only in this format. Orange Wave parallels also will be in the mix with a sample seen on the International Licks die-cut insert, while other rarer finds will be Color Blasts with a Stones twist as well as Manga cards. ... Also in play will be base variation cards of former band members as well as Hot Licks, Behind The Scenes, Milestones & Moments, Singles Artwork and Poster Perfection.
