StockX IPO for 2019 Bowman Chrome X boxes arrives today

StockX's venture into graded trading cards has a new element as of right now.

It's the first trading card IPO on the platform -- 2019 Bowman Chrome X baseball cards -- and boxes of this limited release are live. There are five-box cases already active, too.

There is no suggested retail price for this initial product offering. Instead, the market lets the bidders set the price for these boxes after they sign up for a StockX account.

Each and every box of 2019 Bowman Chrome X new from Topps contains a PSA 9 or PSA 10 Green X-Fractor rookie or prospect card inside -- and each of them is serial-numbered to just 31 copies from a lineup of just 100 players selected to appear in this release.

Among the 35 rookies who are up for grabs here are Pete Alonso, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Keston Hiura, Nick Senzel, Austin Riley and Eloy Jimenez. Prospects in this one -- 65 in all -- include Bo Bichette, Deivi Garcia, Joey Bart, Alex Kiriloff, Victor Victor Mesa, Brendan McKay, Casey Mize, MacKenzie Gore, Nolan Gorman and Jo Adell among others. Every five-box case will contain one of the following players -- Tatis, Alonso, Guerrero, Jimenez, Senzel, Bart, Mesa, Gorman, Bichette, Mize, Garcia, Gore, Adell, Carter Kieboom, Royce Lewis, Taylor Trammell, Jarred Kelenic, Estevan Florial, Keibert Ruiz or Luis Garcia.

This move comes within the same month as StockX's foray into graded cards, which include only slabbed cards from previous releases that are PSA or BGS graded for baseball, football, basketball or hockey. The platform might be best known to sports fans for its basketball sneaker marketplace, but it's also helped people land watches, handbags, streetwear and other in-demand collectibles.

Marketed as a way to set pricing but it's really a way for them to sell for more money. Hobby shops made higher bids than the average collector which drove prices up. Most wont be opened until after they are sold a 2nd time on ebay for a premium. The card industry caters to hobby shops and breakers instead of true collectors. Most cards that cant be pulled from a standard pack of cards do not see anywhere near as high of a resale price. Example: Topps now auto rookies do not come close to the price of similar pack pulled cards. I think once the new wears off the same will be said of these ugly green cards. IMO before yall hate on me. Lol
