Major League Baseball will have its players wear Stoneman Douglas caps today to help raise funds for victims of last week's school shooting in Florida.
The caps will be worn, signed and auctioned to benefit a victim's fund.
Among them will be Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo -- a 2007 graduate of the school -- and the tributes will also be part of Topps Now cardboard now available.
Topps announced on Friday that it will have a card among those available soon on the real-time card platform.
"Look for a #TOPPSNOW card commemorating MLB's team[s] wearing Stoneman Douglas caps coming soon ... with proceeds donated to the Broward Education Foundation," the company said in conjunction with a Chicago Cubs tweet and the photograph you see here. (Update: The card is now live.)
Rizzo reacted to the cap news in an interview with USA Today.
"It’s awesome," Rizzo told USA Today. "There’s obviously deeper ties for me than the rest of the league. But it’s really neat that Major League Baseball’s recognizing what happened."
Other past major-leaguers from the school include Mike Caruso and Matt Fox, while a number of past and present minor-leaguers also went there. One of them is 20-year-old third baseman Colton Welker, who is in the Colorado Rockies camp now and told MLB.com went to middle school with the shooter.
"I was taken aback when I heard about it," Welker told MLB.com. "It's going to be beautiful for the people to think of [the school] in a positive way instead of dwelling on the past."
