What sophomore slump?

Reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes II might have started a little slow Sunday against the Raiders but the final stats for the Kansas City Chiefs QB are the best in the league this week -- by far -- showing us that there might still be some extra potential in his already pricey cardboard to come this season. His second game of his second season as starter included a 30-for-44 day passing which was good for 443 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-10 win. The next-closest QB for yardage? No. 1 pick Kyler Murray at 349 -- and he didn't even have a touchdown. No other QBs had four TDs, while a few had three -- and you may just see some of them here.

Mahomes' Rookie Cards and first autos are a key inclusion in 2017 NFL boxes. You could easily have Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson on this list as well -- he had six catches for 172 yards and two TDs -- but we'll limit this one to one player per team and remind you that Robinson's RCs are in 2016 boxes.

Keep reading for more guys who generated some buzz on the field this week.

-- Lamar Jackson Hey, the Ravens can't play the Dolphins every week ... but Jackson still had a solid day while other first-week standouts came back down to reality against the Cardinals. The QB passed for 272 yards and two TDs while also rushing the ball 16 times for 120 yards, which probably put a dent in the stats of Mark Ingram and Marquise "Hollywood" Brown. It's also the first time in NFL history that a player had 250 passing yards and 120 rushing yards in the same game. Jackson's RCs and first autos are part of the loaded 2018 releases, while Brown is this year and Ingram is from way back in 2011. Jackson seems like a safe buy given the spotlight of being a QB, while a down week for the other two might be a good thing ... letting you scout before a potentially big game against the Chiefs this week. That could be an exciting one.

---

-- Dalvin Cook The RB spot may not be what it used to be in the NFL, but the Vikings got a big day out of this guy with 20 carries for 154 yards and a TD in their 21-16 loss to the Packers. Cook was a 2017 rookie who you might have landed while chasing other guys -- I know I did -- so now might be the time to revisit those and move them if you're inclined. He's got 265 rushing yards and three TDs so far this season -- that's a strong start -- with a team that hasn't exactly impressed so far. He only had one 100-yard game last season and had his only two TDs in that one. It's all upside from here.

---

-- Jeff Wilson Jr. Want a darkhorse pick? This might be it as Wilson was promoted off of the practice squad -- yes, they still exist with real on-field implications -- and proceeded to have 10 carries for just 34 yards but with two TDs on Sunday in a 41-17 win over the Bengals. This former North Texas Mean Green standout -- a school that spawned Hall of Famer "Mean" Joe Greene, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Panini's Tracy Hackler -- surprisingly (but maybe not surprisingly given proximity to Panini) has his only Rookie Cards in 2019 Panini Unparalleled. He's got 14 cards in that release ... and that's it. I'm not sure how much of a big deal he might be the rest of the year, but nobody else in the league had two rushing TDs this week.

---

-- Sony Michel With all of the New England Patriots' successes, you still might argue that it's a team where RBs have yet to break out on cardboard in recent years since they've often used so many. Sure that Tom Brady guy had his new Antonio Brown toy to play with on Sunday -- and they had a TD -- but this guy's day stood out on the stat sheet more to me. It wasn't a perfect day for this former Georgia Bulldog -- 21 carries for 85 yards and a TD -- but it was a reminder that he's there and that he can contribute. Michel had six 100-yard games last season and 12 TDs including the postseason -- strong numbers but just not Saquon -- so you might scout some of his stuff from last year when his RCs arrived. If you find decent cards on the cheap side, they might be worth considering. If you look at his postseason numbers alone, he's a no-brainer to grab -- he was better when it mattered most.

---

-- John Ross III This Bengals WR only had four catches for 112 yards and a TD on Sunday but that upped his total to 271 and three scores for the year. He looks like a go-to guy for Andy Dalton this year. Last year he never had a 100-yard game but he did have seven TDs. His Rookie Cards are also in 2017 boxes so there should be some bargains to be found here as he has played well.

---

-- Julio Jones The old guy (2011 RCs) with a new contract for the Falcons had five catches for 106 yards and a pair of TDs against the Eagles. A 100-yard game should almost be expected here -- he did it 10 times last season alone -- but it looked a lot better than Week 1 (31 yards on six catches). He's also got others around him who can get the ball, so there's some good potential in this team's mix for some cardboard movement with good numbers. Only two WRs/TEs in the league had two TDs on Sunday and the other one was on the Chiefs.
