Call it a week for the recent rookies.
NFL Week 6 didn't have a lot of flashy games for collectors early on if you ask me, but New York Jets QB Sam Darnold returned for just his second game of the year and helped knock off the Dallas Cowboys 24-22 to give it some spark. He completed 23 of 32 passes for 338 yards with two TDs and a pick in the game, which had to have helped spark some life into his Rookie Cards from last year's boxes -- he's in everything then -- as the only attention they had been getting was for mono/spleen jokes.

Keep reading for more guys who generated some buzz on the field this week.
-- Nick Chubb, RB, Browns Baker Mayfield's struggles aren't a good thing, but there is still a highlight-caliber player who was a rookie last year in Cleveland and it's this guy. He had 20 carries for 122 yards and two TDs as well as five catches for 17 yards in the 32-28 loss to the Seahawks. He's posted two 100-plus games in the last month (165 the high) with his worst game in that span being 87. There were just six 100-yard rushers this week and only one of them ahead of Chubb was an RB -- and no other RB had two rushing TDs this week, either. (QBs were getting in on the ground action this week.) His 2018 RCs are in pretty much all releases and there are easily some bargains to be had compared to his teammate, who set the high bar for rookie prices last year.
---
-- Stefon Diggs, WR, Vikings Nobody had a better receiving day than this veteran -- a guy whose RCs are way back in 2015 -- who caught seven passes for 167 yards and three TDs in a 38-20 win over the Eagles. He's a homegrown talent so all those RCs show him in the right colors for Vikings fans and in my mind that makes him much more of a cardboard target than his QB who has seemingly underachieved this season after putting up big numbers with some career-highs last year. Diggs had a career year last year and is roughly on pace to do the same this year after yesterday's big game. He had only had one TD and one 100-yard game this season before yesterday's break-out.
---
-- Kyler Murray, QB, Cardinals The top two QBs this week yardage-wise (Jameis Winston, Matt Ryan) each topped 350 yards but couldn't get a win and that means that the guy next up on the stat sheet (and playing across the field from Ryan yesterday) was the best passer to get a win. The No. 1 pick had a big day with 27 of 37 passes completed good for 340 yards and three TDs in a 34-33 win over the Falcons. The yardage came up just short of a career-high but the TD mark is just that. For the year, he's got 1,664 passing yards -- an average of 277-plus a game -- but only seven TDs (nine if you include his rushing). It's not pretty, really, but at least his team isn't the Dolphins or Bengals. His RCs and autos from this season aren't cheap, but they are worth a look on the cheaper side if you're a believer.
---
-- Deshaun Watson, QB, Texans There was a big showdown on Sunday when the NFL's newest big deal, Patrick Mahomes, took on one of the league's previous big deals in this guy -- and this guy's team won. Watson completed 30 of 42 passes for 280 yards and a TD but added 10 carries for 42 and two more TDs in the 31-24 win. Watson has 12 TDs and 1,644 passing yards this year but a win over the Chiefs might top any of those highlights in the minds of some collectors. Watson's 2017 Rookie Cards are probably worth a look back as he's been playing well -- but not all that consistently on the stat sheet -- this season.
---
-- Lamar Jackson, QB, Ravens Passing-wise, not much of a day here -- just 236 scoreless yards in a 23-17 win over the Bengals -- but his 152 rushing yards and a TD were impressive. He's the first player in league history to pass for 200 and rush for 150 in a regular-season game -- and it happened only once in the postseason when Colin Kaepernick did it back in 2012. It was just the third time a QB had topped 150 rushing yards since there's been a Super Bowl played. The others? Kaepernick and Michael Vick. Big games like this one will certainly not hurt his Rookie Cards among last year's loaded class of newcomers.
