There were a few surprises in Week 1 of the NFL season but some of those simply aren't in spots that will affect cardboard all that dramatically. For example? The Buffalo Bills got spanked 47-3 and were down big at halftime, leading to the NFL debut of QB Josh Allen ... as you can see by the score, that just didn't matter. (He went 3-for-11 for 40 yards ... we'll worry about him in some future week.)

This week? There were some comebacks, some surprises due to injuries and suspensions and some highlight-reel runs that won't hurt cardboard at all.

That last one? It belonged to New York Giants rookie RB Saquon Barkley who broke off a 68-yarder for his first NFL touchdown. That came part of a 106-yard day that was all for naught as the Jacksonville Jaguars won, 20-15. Barkley also added two catches for 22 yards to help him stay on the radar of many collectors, though, and highlight-reel moments probably matter more than Ws when it comes to cardboard -- so that's the kind of play that works.

Keep reading for more guys who generated some buzz on the field this week.

-- Andrew Luck There was a time where this guy's Rookie Cards and autos commanded top dollar and he was, without question, one of the league's players to watch. His 39-for-53, 319-yard showing on Sunday was his first NFL action since Jan. 1, 2017. He threw two touchdowns and one interception, though, and his Colts lost 34-23 to the Bengals after the Indy D coughed up 17 second-half points that went unanswered. It wasn't a dominating game, but he's back and there are a lot of collectors sitting on his 2012 Rookie Cards who are glad about that.

-- James Conner LeWho? The Pittsburgh Steelers were without their franchise-tagged holdout RB and turned to their next guy on the depth chart and this second-year star delivered relatively well in a game that went into overtime and ended in a tie. He racked up 135 yards on 31 carries with two TDs and he also had five catches for 57 yards -- a chunk of that came in OT. Compared to Le'Veon Bell, this guy is an affordable one to get -- the only drawback might be his minimalist autograph. His Rookie Cards and rarer ink from last season have potential if Bell's holdout continues.

-- Alvin Kamara With Pro-Bowler Mark Ingram suspended, the RB spotlight in New Orleans turns to this sophomore and he delivered pretty well in what turned out to be a bit of a defenseless shocker. This former Tennessee Vols star had just eight carries for 29 yards but two of those ended up in the end zone. More impressively? He had nine catches for 112 yards and a score -- the second-best marks in both categories for the Saints behind Michael Thomas. Drew Brees racked up 439 yards passing and had three TDs ... and this guy will remain a target all season long and his Rookie Cards from last year will continue to be targeted by fans.

-- Ryan Fitzpatrick The Tampa Bay Bucs have gone with this veteran who has put up plenty of numbers for several teams in a career that started way back in 2005. Why? Jameis Winston is sidelined due to a three-game suspension. Fitzpatrick has around 30 Rookie Cards from way back when he was a new arrival from Harvard and he's not the easiest certified autograph to find, either, as he's been off the radar at times. If Winston's bench time continues after he's supposed to be back, this guy's stuff could get more attention that one might think. On Sunday he went 21-for-28 for 417 yards and four TDs in the air and he added 12 carries for 36 yards and another TD on the ground. Those are impressive numbers as his Bucs bounced the Saints 48-40.

-- T.J. Yeldon This member of the 2015 NFL rookie class out of Alabama got the nod after Leonard Fournette left the game with a hamstring issue. He got 14 carries for 51 yards and had three catches for 18 and a touchdown. Those aren't commanding numbers by any mark, but they did come in a 20-15 victory over the Giants and he was definitely the go-to guy today. Why does this matter? Future potential this season if Fournette continues to have issues. Yeldon is not a pricey auto, really, save for the Crimson Tide diehards who pick off his stuff -- so there could be room for growth.

-- Tyreek Hill The Kansas City Chiefs got a jolt early on with Hill's 91-yard punt return for a TD and a 58-yard TD pass from Patrick Mahomes to get it going. The QB may get the attention as the season goes on, but we'll open here with a guy who has commanded attention at times since his rookie debut two years ago. (We'll have time for the QB and his highlights later.) Hill finished the game with 169 yards and a second touchdown catch in  38-28 win over the Chargers.

-- Aaron Rodgers The Packers QB may or may not be hurt with a leg issue but that didn't stop him from completing 20 of 30 passes for 286 yards and three fourth-quarter touchdowns in a 24-23 come-from-behind victory on Sunday night. His 2005 Rookie Cards are already drawing more and more attention to put them into Brady-like status and a game like this one won't hurt. We'll see on the injury-status front Monday -- that will hurt if he's out.
