Sunday Superstars: Week 3 NFL icons include Calvin Ridley, Josh Allen, Alvin Kamara, Patrick Mahomes II & more

Simply put, Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley arrived on Sunday.

Sure, it was bound to be a low-defense, high-0ffense contest between the Falcons and the Saints but what was surprising was that this first-round pick out of Alabama was the go-to guy for Matt Ryan (374 yards, 5 TDs) seemingly all day long. He caught seven of eight passes that came his way for 146 yards and three touchdowns in a 43-37 overtime loss. Only one WR had a better week when it comes to yardage and nobody else had three TDs receiving or rushing. It wasn't a total surprise as he found the end zone last week -- but he had a completely silent debut in Week 1 that could have quieted some of the hype. >> Check out Calvin Ridley autos on eBay

Falcons fans have been used to a different receiver formerly of the Crimson Tide getting the job done in Julio Jones but Sunday's game from Ridley showed that there could be some amazing things to come this season and beyond -- both together or solo.

-- Josh Allen The Buffalo Bills have been bowling-shoe ugly this season but they surprisingly pulled things together pretty well yesterday for a 27-6 win over the Vikings. Allen completed 15 of 22 passes for 196 yards (actually lower than Week 2) with a touchdown and added a pair of rushing scores, too. This rookie drafted seventh-overall out of the University of Wyoming will be the guy who gets the hobby dollars if the Bills keep things going this season so this win is a big deal -- though keep in mind he's not exactly a cheap buy right now.

-- Robert Woods This former Bills WR is now a member of the Los Angeles Rams and he had a day with 10 catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-23 win over the Chargers. Coming into this game he had just 118 yards receiving without a score on nine catches so he could be a guy who gets more attention with success in L.A. His Rookie Cards and autographs are found in 2013 NFL boxes.

-- Jordy Nelson This Green Bay Packers icon isn't in the land of cheese anymore and he arrived for Oakland on Sunday in a 28-20 loss to the Dolphins. He caught six of eight passes for 173 yards -- tops in the NFL this week -- after two weeks with just five catches and 53 yards total. The Raiders are on 0-3 mess so there's a chance some hobby dollars are spent on this guy, though there are a lot of Oakland guys who have been hobby favorites. Another way to look at this one? Perhaps this is a game where Packers fans remember and buy at perhaps lower prices then in the glory days. His Rookie Cards and first autos are found way back in 2008 boxes.

-- Christian McCaffrey This former Stanford Star has been a yardage machine this season with 102 receiving yards last week and 184 rushing yards on Sunday. The catch? Zero touchdowns so far. His Rookie Cards from last year probably haven't lost much luster but there's still potential here if he's fallen a little off the radar and is delivering like this. Selective buying on bargain-priced key cards might not be a bad move here.

-- Alvin Kamara Can you name the NFL's leading pass-catcher this week? It was this guy -- a New Orleans Saints RB. He caught 15 of 20 passes sent his direction on Sunday for 124 yards and he ran for 66 more on just 16 carries. He's been the focus of the Saints' running game with All-Pro back Mark Ingram out (he'll be back after this week) but he hasn't really blown up. He's been very, very good but hasn't scored since he had three in Week 1. With Ingram back in the mix, Kamara's game could get better -- and that's a little bit scary. His RCs and autos from last year should be on collector radars but there also still could be room to grow if the team marches on with its high-octane offense this season.

-- Patrick Mahomes II The Chiefs QB "only" threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns this week but he continued to impress as he set a new NFL record for the most TD passes in the first three weeks of a season with 13. He hasn't yet thrown a pick and he should be in the 1,000-yard club in his next game. He'll continue to keep drawing in the hobby dollars -- his Rookie Cards and first autos are from last year -- and this week they visit Denver on Monday Night Football. Watch out ... this could get fun.
